So on Monday I talked about how what a sales funnel is and how to create it. On Tuesday I spoke about how the heck does one create a digital product, and yesterday I told you how to create a freebie (the second part of a sales funnel).

The third part of a sales funnel is your introductory offer which is your first paid offer on the blog.

How to Create an Introductory Offer

An introductory offer is a low priced digital product usually for less than $50. It is the first step in converting your blog’s readers into customers.

When you are setting up a sales funnel, you can’t expect people to just buy your highest priced product off the rip–they don’t even know you yet. And I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t give your money to a stranger either. You have to grow trust with them that your stuff is high quality by offering amazing freebies and blog content.

Basically what you have to do is offer the very best information you can for free, tempt them with an irresistible offer at a low price (your introductory offer) and then offer them your higher priced products in the end. Here’s the process step-by-step.

  1. First you need to create amazing content and you can do this by first making a small community on social media.
  2. Then you need to survey your community by offering them different freebies, asking them questions, and generally find out what their biggest needs are.
  3. Once you get to know your audience/community, you begin to see the types of things that they respond to the most. So for instance, let’s say you have two freebies that you offered to your community. One of them only got 5 subscribers while the second one got 350 subscribers. You know that with the second freebie you hit gold so you need to create an introductory product that is going to compliment or extend that freebie.
  4. Offer the subscribers who signed up for your freebie your first introductory offer–there’s a high chance that they will buy it!

You can also offer your introductory offer right after people sign up for your freebie. How do you do that? Well after people opt-into your list for a freebie, have the opt-in automatically send them to your introductory offer’s landing page.

What Can I Use as an Introductory Offer?

Your introductory offer can literally be anything. It’s very similar to a freebie, just an extended freebie. As a general rule of thumb you want to make your introductory offer worth 3x as more than the price. You can do this by pairing multiple resources together like 5 ebooks and checklists or you can use high-value products like webinars and video courses.

You can also time your offer at a discounted rate to enlist a sense of urgency in your readers. This can be done with a WordPress plugin like Social Deals.

These are both two ways that you can make your introductory offer irresistible!

I am currently working on my first introductory offer which will be a Facebook Mastery Video Course. I’m selecting this topic because my highest converting freebie is my Facebook Group Post Planner. This lets me know that this is something people really want (and are more than likely willing to spend money on)!

What do you think? Do you have an introductory offer on your blog yet? How did you decide what it was going to be and how did it go?
