Bloggers always want more. More followers. More comments. More likes. And, above all, more traffic. A year ago, I was getting about 1,000 page views a month. Which was pretty good for a one month old blog. But I knew I needed more. And I had heard that Pinterest was a great platform for getting more traffic. So I listened to a bazillion podcasts about Pinterest. I read blog posts on Pinterest until my eyes burned. I admit it, I got a little Pinterest obsessed. But after 3 weeks of Pinterest learning, my page views grew from 1,000 to 3,000. And then they doubled the next month. (This was all with less than 100 followers, by the way.) And the best thing about it? It’s all automated, so I don’t have to do anything to keep getting traffic from it. So...are you ready to learn the steps I took to make Pinterest a blog traffic machine? 1. Create beautiful branded graphics The first thing you MUST do to get traffic from Pinterest is create branded graphics that make people’s eyes pop out of their head. Make sure that they’re the right size for Pinterest - 736x1102. Long, vertical graphics are way more likely to be repinned. They should include your post headline, your logo, and your branding. And they should also stand out with a killer headline. Check out this Mini-Course from Andrea Beltrami on how to create beautiful branded graphics. Go back and create branded graphics for all of your posts. Trust me, it’s worth it. 2. Create a blog post board for your blog. Make a board just for your blog posts, and then pin all of your posts there first. That way, when you repin them, your blog post board will get more repins, which looks better and makes it rank higher in Pinterest. 3. Join group boards. Unless you have a lot of Pinterest followers, the best way to get eyes on your pins is to join group boards - boards that many pinners share and pin to on a regular basis. There are many ways of joining group boards, but to start out, go to pingroupie.com and search for boards in your niche. Sort by the boards with the most repins, because group boards won’t help you if people aren’t repinning stuff. 4. Use Boardbooster to automatically repin your old posts. Boardbooster is a great - and cheap - tool that will repin your old pins to group boards. You can set it to loop your pins on a schedule that you choose. Boardbooster is the best way to get people’s eyes on your old posts. For a post on how to use Boardbooster to loop your pins, click here. --- This simple process WILL get you more traffic. But only if you know who your audience is, join the right group boards, and create a droolworthy brand with your graphics. Get those things in place, do the 4 steps above, and your blog will have more traffic than downtown Miami during rush hour. BIO: Daniela Uslan is a blog strategist who lives in Miami, Florida.
