For Bloggers social media is really crucial…but so is everything else!

Social media is one of those things that can either be automated or it can a major time suck.

You don’t want it to be the latter!

There are simple ways to grow your social media following, share your blog posts, and engage with your followers in as little as a few minutes per day.

Facebook Growth Strategies

If you want to grow your blog’s traffic using Facebook, you definitely have to get on Facebook groups. Join them (you can join mine here), create them, and participate them.

The key to getting in and out of Facebook in a timely manner is to plan your ish out!

You can get my free Facebook group post planner here.

Pick 3 amazing groups you love and post in them at least once per weekday. You can easily plan out 15 questions or informative posts in 30 minutes or less.

Don’t make it a promotional post–post something informative or ask the community something. It will get far more responses than a sales pitch or your latest blog post.

Quick Tip: Post around 11:30 am – 11:45 am for the most engagement!

If you have a Facebook group, schedule themed days using Hootsuite. Once you know what your themed days are, just go ahead and schedule an entire month worth of posts for your group in 15 minutes. (You’re just using the same theme every week).

Twitter Growth Strategies

You can read my entire blog post on growing your email list using Twitter in an entirely passive way.

Twitter is one of those social media sites that are really hands off. You can check it once per day or every other day and still be pretty effective in growing traffic to your site and growing your email list.

If you don’t have one already, sign up for a Twitter management account like Unfollowers. It allows you to quickly follow and unfollow people. It also allows you to send automated DMs *direct messages* and automated welcome messages with URLs!

Set up your profile with an amazing header and a nice headshot. Put your one-hitter quitter about what you do and a link to your freebie’s landing page in your bio.

Then find a popular person in your niche on Twitter and using the copy followers function on Unfollowers, follow up to 1000 people in one day. Please be aware that if you follow more than 1000 people per day you could be put in Twitter jail. Also, once you hit 2000 follows you can only follow 10% more than your follower count.

For example, if you’re following 2000 people and have 1500 followers, you can only follow 150 more people. So you’re going to want to unfollow people who aren’t following you so you can follow more people.

Set up your automated DM or welcome message with a “Hello! Thanks for following me! Let’s connect on Facebook – ‘your FB URL.” or a, “Thanks for following me! Check out my gift to you–a book about social media marketing – ‘your ebook sign up page’.” With 2000 followers you may get 200 or more people on your email list or on your Facebook page just by setting this up one time!

Make sure to schedule posts to go out 6-8 times per day. You can use a mixture of your content and other content in your niche. You can also install the plugin Revive Old Post on your blog which automatically posts blog posts to your Twitter account that is older than 30 days.

Participate in Twitter chats or throw one. Consider doing a Periscope and invite people on Twitter to come and see you speak about your blog’s topic.

Like I said previously, you don’t have to be on Twitter everyday to make a difference. Sometimes I go an entire week without getting on Twitter at all! It’s very low maintenance.

Pinterest Growth Strategies

I recently had blogger Daniela Uslan tell us how to drive traffic to your site using Pinterest. Pinterest takes a LOT to set up in the beginning but once it’s all set up, all you have to do is add your new blog post to your pinning schedule.

Daniela suggests using BoardBooster and that’s what I currently use to automatically schedule pins to 10 of my boards. However, I’ve seen a lot of Pinterest pros talk about Tailwind. I signed up for it and I still have to take the time to learn but it looks amazing.

Tailwind has a feature where once you schedule all your pins you can scramble them so that no pin posts back-to-back. You can schedule 300,400, or more pins per day so it’s really powerful stuff. Think if you had 50 different pins that you posted to 60 boards each day–you would definitely get some serious traffic!

So with Pinterest, once you create your boards, join a couple of group boards, and set up your pins, you’re only spending 10 minutes per week adding new pins to your que.

Instagram Growth Strategies

I also just recently had Instaexpert Robin Smith and blogger Mary Juett tell us how to grow our Instagram accounts.

I’m not gonna front–I don’t know how to use Instagram very well! I’m currently learning how to effectively use Instagram for my blogging business.

The thing with Instagram is that it’s such a visual platform that your branding just has to be on point. And as you can see from my blog, my brand is all over the place! I just can’t seem to get it together. It’s one of the things I struggle with the most.

But I digress…

Robin tells us we have to be consistent with our posting (and we have to post nice pics)—like 3-5 pics per day.

Like Twitter, we have to follow followers of our niche.

We need to use hashtags and ask questions. We also need to make sure to put our freebie’s URL in the description. It’s the only place we get to put a URL.

I also see really popular accounts promoting other Instagram accounts so if you have a bit of cash you could probably pay for a little advertisement.

FYI, Instagram recently implemented a rule that you can only follow up to 14K people, period.

What do you think about these social media strategies? Do you implement them or do you have strategies that are not on this list? Tell me in the comments below!!
